Charlotte G. Andrist

Charlotte G. Andrist, Ph.D., NCSP is a psychologist and special educator. She holds master’s degrees in Learning Disabilities and School Psychology and a doctorate in Cognitive Psychology from Case Western Reserve University. Her education includes over 45 years of training in numerous systematic, explicit evidence based reading programs including both Direct Instruction (DI) and structured literacy programs based on the Orton-Gillingham (OG) Approach. As an Associate Professor at Notre Dame College, Dr. Andrist developed the master’s in reading and reading endorsement programs. She served on the Northern Ohio and Central Ohio Branches of the International Dyslexia Association (IDA) Boards of Directors for over 20 years, most recently as Central Ohio’s branch president. After her move to Columbus, Dr. Andrist coordinated the Ohio IDA Dyslexia Legislative Group and chaired the Ohio Teacher Education Task Force in Dyslexia. She continues to serve IDA on the national Professional Development, Program Review and Exam Committees continuing her work to insure that all teachers receive a strong foundation in the science of reading. Locally, she continues to do independent educational evaluations (IEEs) and OG tutoring. Dr. Andrist is a Certified Master Trainer with Orton-Gillingham International (OGI) under Ronald Yoshimoto, F/AOGPE and coordinates OGI trainings in Ohio.
