Joyce Hedrick

Joyce Hedrick, M.Ed. is a language/literacy specialist with an interest in dyslexia and related disorders. She holds a B.A. in English Secondary Education and an M.Ed. in Language/Learning Disabilities. Having taught at the high school, elementary, and early childhood levels, she is currently an educational consultant in private practice in the Northern Ohio area. She received her first Orton-Gillingham training in Alphabetic Phonics while teaching at Oak Hill Academy in Dallas, Texas, a school for students with dyslexia. She has been an active member of The International Dyslexia Association (IDA) (formerly The Orton Dyslexia Society) for 28 years. She was a member of the Dallas Branch of IDA. After moving to the Cleveland area, she affiliated with the Northern Ohio Branch of IDA, serving on its Board of Directors and Advisory Board, with a term as President. Additionally, she has served at the National level of IDA as chair of the international nominating committee. Ms. Hedrick’s Orton-Gillingham training includes Alphabetic Phonics, The Wilson Reading System, Language, and Project Read.
